HISTORY

Partners for Prosperity: New Beginnings for Eastern Idaho is a nonprofit organization dedicated to poverty reduction in the 16 counties of Eastern Idaho, including the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. We are a “teach them to fish” organization rather than a “feed them fish” organization. This means we focus on community and economic development efforts that bring multiple stakeholders to the table to collaborate on innovative program that will have an impact in our region. We firmly believe in the importance of shared resources including our biggest resource—the people of Eastern Idaho.

P4P is one of ten Ventures Communities funded in part by the Northwest Area Foundation, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to poverty reduction in an eight-state region that includes: Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.  The “Community Ventures Program” was established by the NWAF as a way for communities to think strategically in helping reduce poverty by: including those traditionally left out of community decision-making; identifying local assets; designing, leading and implementing community efforts; and expanding access to economic opportunity.

Today, 16 Eastern Idaho counties and the Shoshone-Bannock Indian Tribes have come together as a region to build relationships and form partnerships to reduce the effects of poverty throughout our community.

We believe in an asset based, grassroots approach to community development by more effectively utilizing existing resources and seeking new ones. We recognize the importance of partnerships and the diversity of multiple voices. We are PARTNERS FOR PROSPERITY - New Beginnings for Eastern Idaho.
